WWE is once again shuffling the deck with the commentary teams. Michael Cole and Pat McAfee have reunited on the Monday Night Raw brand, and earlier this week Corey Graves joined the NXT announce team.
The Wrestling Observer Newsletter reports that Joe Tessitore and Wade Barrett will be the commentary team for Friday Night SmackDown starting this week. While Corey Graves has been moved to NXT for now the belief is that he will probably be back on the main roster once Pat McAfee goes back to focusing on his football duties once again.
During a recent episode of Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer commented on the decision to send Graves to NXT when he said, “Yep, he’s going to be off [the main roster] until football season, then he’ll come back. He was the best color guy that they had, I mean he was the best, and now he’s in ‘NXT’ instead of on Netflix.”
“Look, they’re always going to go with Pat McAfee because these guys are into star power, and man, McAfee’s become a huge star in the sports world so they’re always going to go with him. The choice of Wade Barrett over Corey Graves, and Wade Barrett’s really good, but it was an interesting choice, and that was the choice they made.”
