Earlier this month it was reported that Rip Fowler and Jagger Reid had requested to be released from WWE and since then there’s been a lot of speculation regarding their status with the company moving forward.
Recently both Rip Fowler and Jagger Reid took to Twitter to confirm that they have not been released, but they indicated that they plan to part ways with WWE when their contracts expire in October.
During a recent episode of Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer talked about the situation and noted that the former NXT UK Tag Team Champions want to move back to England, which they will presumably do when their contracts expire.
“There’s reasons that they wanted to move back to England, and that’s basically it. When we talked about the story on April 3 right after WrestleMania when I first heard about it, it was pretty much, in NXT, it was like they were gone. They asked for their release, they were gonna get released, and then they were basically told, ‘We have to decide’.
“So they’ve been working there (since), and I guess today, based on the tweet, they were told, ‘No, you’re not getting your release’. So they’re gonna be there until the end of the contract and that’s that, and then presumably they will leave unless they changed their minds.”
Stay tuned for more updates as they become available.
Our statements tonight are simply factual and intended to keep our fans (who have been asking questions) updated.
I would like to add that @JoeGacy and @avawwe_ are both boss and will continue to smash everything that they do! Lots of love for both ✌️
