Shinsuke Nakamura may be the current WWE Intercontinental Champion, but it’s been a while since fans have seen him wrestle a match on TV. Nakamura last competed in a tag team match on the December 10th episode of Friday Night SmackDown, and since then Rick Boogs has been competing in singles competition.
During a recent appearance on Out Of Character with Ryan Satin, Rick Boogs discussed his future with Shinsuke Nakamura, and he revealed that they haven’t been teaming up recently because Nakamura is dealing with a hand injury.
“We’ve only had a couple of tag matches together and he suffered a hand injury that has kept him out for close to two months now, it seems like. I’m looking forward to him being healthy and cleared so we can kick some tail.”
“From there, down the road, we’ll branch off, but I’m in no rush with that. There is a new approach, pairing up the seasoned vets with new up and comers and it’s obviously for a reason. It helps get more exposure, TV time, valuable insight. I don’t think he’d be as willing to help me out if I wasn’t with him, Strong Style Shred. What’s his incentive to help me?”
At this point it’s not clear when Shinsuke Nakamura might return to in-ring competition, but Sami Zayn will be waiting for him as Sami earned the right to challenge for the Intercontinental Championship when he won a gauntlet match during the December 24th episode of SmackDown. Stay tuned for updates as they become available.
