MJF has had a big year as he managed to become the longest reigning AEW World Champion and his storylines have been getting a lot of TV time on AEW programming. For months now a mysterious devil figure has been taunting MJF, and this week on AEW Dynamite, MJF dropped the ROH Tag Team Titles to two of the devil’s masked henchmen.
After the match it was revealed that Samoa Joe has been working with the devil when Joe attacked MJF with a steel chair. MJF is currently set to defend the AEW World Championship against Samoa Joe at the Worlds End pay-per-view on Saturday, and there’s a lot of speculation regarding the devil character as the matcha approaches.
During the media call for Worlds End, Tony Khan stated that he thinks the devil storyline is coming to an end soon with the devil’s identity likely being revealed at the pay-per-view on Saturday. Tony Khan also reiterated that Samoa Joe is not the devil he has just been in cahoots with the mysterious figure.
“It feels like we’re getting close to that point. I do expect some big revelations and big moments at Worlds End. It’s its own idea, and it’s something that I’m excited about. I do feel like it’s coming close to the culmination and it does feel like the secrets will be revealed at Worlds End, and I’m looking forward to it. It’s been very different than the other aspects of AEW. One aspect of it has been really interesting and it’s been something to keep people hooked and those people that want to see that kind of episodic story is really something that has a lot of people talking and built a lot of interest for Worlds End is the identity of the Devil.”
Everyone seems to have a theory when it comes to the devil’s identity, but one way or another it seems that we’ll be finding out for sure sooner rather than later.
