Bray Wyatt was officially released from WWE today and the wrestling world is still processing the news. Wyatt was pushed as one of WWE’s top stars for a number of years, but he hasn’t made an appearance on WWE programming since the Raw after WrestleMania 37.
Fightful Select reports that John Laurinaitis made the call to inform Bray Wyatt of his release, and he also sent out a notification to the WWE locker room.
Wyatt was told that he was being released due to budget cuts, which was said to have been a surprise to people within the company because Wyatt was thought of as a money maker when he was active.
Bray Wyatt’s name was reportedly discussed during another recent round of releases but ultimately WWE decided to keep him. It’s also being said that Wyatt was getting protective over his character due to ideas which were seen as poor creative decisions, but many never confirmed that with Bray Wyatt himself.
