On Wednesday night the Winter Is Coming edition of AEW Dynamite aired live on TNT, and it featured some big moments. Sting made his AEW debut, and Kenny Omega also defeated Jon Moxley in the main event to win the AEW World Championship.
Omega used a microphone to hit Moxley in the head while the referee wasn’t looking, and after winning the belt he ran out of the arena with Don Callis, while Callis told Alex Marvez that Kenny will speak on Tuesday’s episode of Impact Wrestling.
Dave Meltzer noted on Wrestling Observer Radio that “the Callis thing has been in the works for a while” and he presumes Callis pitched the idea, and Tony Khan went along with it.
Impact and AEW will be working together to some degree, and it’s expected that some talents from Impact will end up appearing on AEW programming.
There’s also speculation that Don Callis could end up managing Kenny Omega during his AEW World Championship reign, and that the angle could be similar to Bobby Heenan managing AWA Champion Nick Bockwinkel in the 1970s.
This week on Impact Wrestling a Young Bucks vs. Motor City Machine Guns match aired, and it’s being said that it’s not a coincidence the match was featured on the show.
