Daniel Bryan is back and everyone is super excited about it. But there are still a plethora of questions about the topic because there is so much ground to cover.
Dave Meltzer appeared on Wrestling Observer Live where he said Daniel Bryan is still talking about what kind of deal he can have with WWE. Nothing is set in stone, but it’s not likely Bryan will become another ultimate part-timer just yet. Meltzer said he would compare the deal Daniel wants to more of a Randy Orton schedule. Therefore, he could very well be working house shows as well.
But only time will tell about exactly how Daniel Bryan will be used on a regular basis following his program leading to WrestleMania where he is expected to tag with Shane McMahon against Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn.
“I think that he will at first be booked real strong because of all the momentum coming from his return,” Dave Meltzer continued, “I think longterm depends on how well he holds up.”
“You know it’s funny because I always think of him leaving you know, kinda at that last WrestleMania in New Orleans. But he was really there for another year and he was, you know they were concerned about the injury thing but they weren’t — like he was more over than his push, and actually a lot more over so and this is after that giant win in New Orleans. And even after the win in New Orleans, you know the plans were he was the transition champion to get to Lesnar and Reigns.”
“But a lot’s happened, you know it’s all up to Vince and I think three months from now we’ll see where Vince slots him.”
Meltzer continued saying Bryan’s return could be akin to The Hardy Boyz or Dudleys’ comeback where they were super over but eventually found themselves putting over younger talent, therefore, Bryan’s comeback in WWE could be diminished to an upper-midcard level rather quickly. However, the fans will always put him over.
Meltzer concluded by saying he thinks the fans will push Daniel Bryan to a level where he is a top guy, but it’s yet another wait and see situation regarding what Vince McMahon will do with a freshly cleared D-Bry.
Let’s hope WWE has some big plans for Daniel Bryan because his return could mean big things for business. There are a lot of things WWE could do with Daniel Bryan and plenty of new feuds for him to explore. After all, WWE has changed a lot in the last two years.
It was also noted a possible mixed-tag match where Daniel Bryan partners with Brie Bella against The Miz and Maryse could be a very plausible future storyline as well which is exciting. Of course, a one-on-one match between The A-Lister and the Bearded GOAT would be more satisfying and Maryse needs to get in shape for a match after giving birth to the It Couple’s first child.
But there are certainly some exciting things going on in WWE and Daniel Bryan very well could be in the middle of it. But yet again, it all comes down to what Vince McMahon decides to do.
