Over the last few years a number of AEW stars have jumped to WWE, and now it looks like another notable name could be joining the company. It was reported following Dynamite this week that Powerhouse Hobbs’ AEW contract had expired and the expectation is that he will be signing with WWE.
WrestleVotes Radio on Fightful Select is reporting that the expectation is Powerhouse Hobbs will have an altered name when he joins WWE. It was noted that him using the name “Hobbs” is a possibility.
According to Sean Ross Sapp contract negotiations between AEW and Powerhouse Hobbs started months ago and went all the way up to this week. It was noted that the offers were “huge” but Hobbs had made his mind up, and he tried not to burn any bridges on his way out of the company.
WWE had been interested in Hobbs for years and tried to make contact with him when Dan Ventrelle was still heading up talent relations. The word going around is that there was a pitch for Hobbs to appear on the WWE main roster.
