Details On AEW’s Reaction To CM Punk’s Backstage Fight, Punk Possibly Getting Fired

CM Punk has been the talk of the wrestling world over the last few days as he took several shots at Colt Cabana, Adam Page and The Elite during the post-show media scrum following All Out. It was also reported that Punk and Ace Steel got into a physical altercation with The Elite after Punk finished speaking at the post-show media scrum.

Fightful Select reports that it’s been confirmed to them that Ace Steel bit Kenny Omega, CM Punk threw punches, and Nick Jackson got hit in the eye with a chair during the altercation.

Some people who spoke on the situation believe that Punk should have expected to be confronted after the comments he made. Another person said that Omega and The Young Bucks aggressively approached the locker room in what Punk could have perceived as a 3 on 1 attack. The altercation went on for about six minutes with Brandon Cutler, Christopher Daniels and Pat Buck trying to break it up.

Talent that spoke to Fightful almost unanimously indicated that they weren’t in favor of the way Punk handled things. It’s also being said that talent who would normally back Punk up said that’s not what they would have done. Several longtime AEW stars also reportedly said that they don’t understand how CM Punk couldn’t be let go after this. It’s rumored that CM Punk may have sustained an injury during the altercation, but that hasn’t been confirmed.

A person high up in the company noted that AEW isn’t expected to say much officially following the altercation due to possible legal issues.

The Hoffman Estates Police Department confirmed that they don’t have any police reports regarding anything that happened backstage with the following comment: “Hoffman States Police Department does not have any police reports, nor any documentation that police were requested, during AEW All Out event for anything that allegedly occurred backstage. The only police response at the event was regarding a family issue in the audience.”

Steven Muehlhausen of DAZN is also reporting that there are some people in AEW who feel that the EVP titles should be taken away from talent, and some people who also feel that CM Punk should be fired. Stay tuned for updates.
