AEW Dynamite officially launched on Wednesday nights in October of 2019, and since then there’s been a lot of talk about the company launching a second show.
Today the new show was confirmed when it was announced that AEW Rampage will premiere on TNT on Friday, August 13th at 10 PM EST. The show will continue to air on Friday nights on TNT until both AEW Rampage and Dynamite move to TBS in 2022. After both shows move to TBS AEW content will continue to air on TNT in the form of four special supercard events which will take place annually.
PWInsider reports that AEW will be receiving an “eight figure payday” from the new deal with WarnerMedia. It was also noted that WarnerMedia’s deal with the NHL was a factor when it came to moving AEW to TBS.
Internally the new deal is being seen as a positive way for the company to gain more exposure on multiple networks and produce more content.
In the official press release regarding the new deal Tony Khan mentioned a “financial upside” to the new agreement when he offered the following comments:

The history of wrestling in the United States cannot be told without acknowledging the contributions of TBS, which as WTBS years ago delivered wrestling to the Southeast and eventually to a massive national audience. TBS has the same passion for wrestling today, but will offer AEW and our fans more prime time programming, content and global opportunities that will establish TBS as the world’s undisputed destination for wrestling.
“And, while we’re looking forward to our arrival on TBS, we’re not saying goodbye to our original and current home of TNT, which will air four new special supercard events annually.
