Details On How Much Money Anthem Wants The Hardys To Pay For The Broken Gimmick

When The Hardys parted ways with Impact Wrestling a few months ago, fans were hoping to see them bring the Broken Universe to WWE, but it wasn’t meant to be. Impact Wrestling claimed ownership over the rights to the Broken Universe, and the two sides have been wrapped up in a very public battle ever since.

Matt Hardy recently teased on Twitter that the battle was getting close to a resolution, but Jeff Jarrett said during a recent Global Force Wrestling media conference call that the two sides have not reached an agreement.

Matt’s wife Reby Hardy later came forth and called Jeff Jarrett a liar, and Matt Hardy backed her up. Whether or not the deal will actually come together remains to be seen, but the two sides did reportedly agree to terms.

Sports Illustrated is reporting that the two sides came to an agreement within the past month that would have seen The Hardys pay $10,000 to $15,000 for the rights to the Broken Universe.

According to the report, the deal would have included a non-disparagement clause which Reby Hardy recently mentioned on Twitter, that would have prevented The Hardys from saying negative things about GFW on social media. Violation of the clause would result in $1,000 fine for the first offense, and a $5,000 fine for ever offense after that.

The Hardys even reportedly agreed to sign a press release saying that the two sides ended their negotiations on good terms. However, Anthem also wanted 50% of all Hardy revenue, including Jeff Hardy’s art and music which The Hardys saw “as a monumental heist and money-grab.”

“WWE has clearly stated via email that they do not want the ‘Broken Brilliance’ IP [intellectual property],” GFW said in a statement to SI. “GFW has been and always will be open to a licensing agreement for the IP to all parties, which is customary in the music and entertainment business, but revolutionary in the professional wrestling business.”
