More Details On The Hell In A Cell Finish, WWE’s New Cruiserweight Show

Sasha Banks and Charlotte made history at Hell in a Cell when they main evented the pay-per-view, but leading up to the show WWE had been advertising a triple main event. Prior to the show it was reported that Vince McMahon wasn’t keen on the idea of the women main eventing the show, but obviously he gave in.

The Wrestling Observer Newsletter notes that original plans called for Sasha Banks to retain her title, and for Sasha and Charlotte to go their separate ways after Hell in a Cell.

One person in Vince’s inner circle says he changed the finish of the match the day before, not the day of, and only told a few people close to him. However, top officials told everyone a different finish during the production meeting on Saturday.

It was noted that there was a reason for the change, but it had nothing to do with heat on Sasha Banks, or Sasha being injured. It was also noted that the change had nothing to do with Charlotte’s 13-0 pay-per-view win streak, as that’s something that happened organically.

The new show 205 live will be shot on Tuesdays after SmackDown. The show will air live on the WWE Network at 10pm and Talking Smack will be pushed back an hour. Talking Smack will now cover both SmackDown and 205 live.

The cruiserweights will continue to work on Raw, and they will also work NXT weekend shows.

According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter Brian Kendrick, T.J. Perkins, Rich Swann, Noam Dar, HoHo Lun, Cedric Alexander, Lince Dorado, Gran Metalik, Tozawa, Jack Gallagher and Harv & Gurv Sihra, and the Bollywood Boyz will all be featured on the show.
