Last year John Cena announced that he would be retiring at the end of 2025, and Cena only has 24 dates left on his schedule with WWE. There’s been a lot of talk about when and where his final match will take place with Boston being heavily rumored for the location.
James Stewart of 98.5 The Sports Hub is reporting that John Cena’s final match is planned for Saturday Night’s Main Event on 12/13/25. The report notes that WWE is looking for a $1.5 million dollar financial commitment from potential host cities, including Boston.
The full week takeover would start with community events on 12/10, an Undertaker show on 12/11, followed by SmackDown on 12/12 and Saturday Night’s Main Event on 12/13.
The Takedown on SI is also reporting that they’ve corroborated Stewart’s report, and they’ve viewed documents sent to potential host cities for the event. The company started searching for prospective bidders after the Royal Rumble and originally aimed to have a city in place for Cena’s last match at the end of April.
