Daniel Bryan retired from in-ring competition, but his wrestling career might not be over. Bryan has been working as the General Manager of SmackDown Live for almost a year now, but in another year and a half his WWE contract will expire, and he will be free to do whatever he wants.
Inside The Ropes caught up with Daniel Bryan a few weeks ago and he was asked what he plans to do when his contract expires, and he says he’s going to wrestle if he feels good.
“It all depends on how I feel my health is, and how my wife feels my health is. If we feel my health is good — I love to wrestle, I’m going to wrestle. But if we think that at that point that it’s not good then we’ll see what happens.”
Daniel Bryan has been cleared for in-ring competition by more than one reputable doctor outside of WWE, but the problem is that WWE’s doctors won’t clear him.

The current SmackDown Live General Manager says that he understands why they won’t clear him, but there’s reason to believe that he should be back in the ring.
“I understand why they won’t let me wrestle. It’s a liability thing, it’s also they’re trying to protect me and that sort of thing. But there’s good reason to believe that I should be able to wrestle, and that sort of thing. So, we’ll see in a year and a half what happens.”
