After CM Punk left WWE, he announced that he had signed a deal with UFC, and there was a lot of hype leading up to his MMA debut. But Punk lost his debut in short time when he was defeated by Mickey Gall at UFC 203, and he went 0-2 on Saturday when he lost to Mike Jackson.
Dana White was asked about Punk’s future with UFC during the post-fight press conference and he made it clear that Punk won’t be getting another chance to fight for the company.
“No, it should be a wrap,” White said. “The guy [Punk] is 39 years old. I love the guy and he’s the nicest guy in the world. We gave him two shots and he had a lot of heart tonight but I think he should call it a wrap.”
Punk managed to last three rounds, and during the content Joe Rogan jokingly pondered whether or not someone had paid Mike Jackson to make the fight last.
White also went on to criticize Mike Jackson for not trying to finish Punk off, and he said he was acting “like a goofball” during the fight.
Dana White also said that he regrets putting the Jackson vs. Punk fight on the main card.
“I got the sense that he’s a complete f**king idiot, and I couldn’t wait for that fight to end, and I regretted not putting that fight on Fight Pass. That’s how I felt about that fight.”
