Over the last few years Damian Priest has been one of the stars to watch in WWE, and there’s no denying that he took his career to the next level in 2024.
Damian successfully cashed in his Money in the Bank contract to win the WWE World Heavyweight Championship at WrestleMania back in April. He managed to hang onto the title for a few months before Gunther defeated him at SummerSlam.
Earlier this week on Raw, Damian Priest confronted Gunther in the ring and he took several shots at the Ring General while cutting a promo. Damian Priest talked a little bit about the promo during an appearance on Cheap Heat with Peter Rosenberg, and he revealed that Paul Heyman had some encouraging words for him when he got backstage.
“I felt good, I felt comfortable. I was flowing. I just went in, and it just felt good. For instance, [Paul] Heyman was talking to me after, and he was like, ‘There’s no distinction between the character and the person. That’s you now.’
That felt good. I was appreciative of his words. For me, it felt smooth, man. I think I finally know how to just be me.”
