The Emmalina gimmick became somewhat of a running joke in WWE after the company spent several months hyping up the character’s debut only for it to go nowhere.
After months of her debut getting pushed back, Emmalina finally arrived on Raw and immediately announced that she would be switching back to Emma.
In October of 2017 Emma was released from her WWE contract, and it was later reported that the botched gimmick hurt her position in the company.
James McKenna of Pro Wrestling Sheet is now reporting that after WWE officials came to the conclusion that Emma wasn’t the right person for the character, Vince McMahon was adamant that Mandy Rose would be a good fit for the gimmick.
Emma is currently wrestling under her real name, Tenille Dashwood, and a few months ago during an appearance on Killing The Town she opened up about why the gimmick didn’t work for her.
“No. I wish I had more to say. I don’t know. I guess there was an idea to it, and they realized along the way that, that wasn’t me, that wasn’t for me at all. I mean I’m not a diva. I’m not like that at all. And I just wanted to wrestle.”
