Anything can happen in the world of professional wrestling and on Monday it was revealed that Sonya Deville will be out of action indefinitely due to a torn ACL. Sonya Deville is currently one half of the WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions and WWE is expected to make an announcement regarding future plans for the belts soon.
Sonya’s injury will keep her sidelined for quite some time as Dave Meltzer estimated on Wrestling Observer Radio that Deville could be out of action for the next 8 months.
“A couple of weeks after winning it, her first championship in WWE, she blows out her knee. She has not had a serious injury in her entire time in WWE, and now the injury is going to put her out. Reconstructive surgery is Tuesday, that’s usually a 7 or 8 month process, 6 if you are lucky, but 7 or 8 months. They are going to have to change plans for that tag team title, come up with new plans and the whole bit.”
The belief is that Sonya Deville suffered the injury during the July 28 episode of SmackDown when she teamed up with Chelsea Green to face Charlotte Flair & Bianca Belair. Stay tuned for updates.
