WrestleMania season is quickly approaching and there’s been a lot of talk about what the top matches will be at next year’s show. Cody Rhodes and Roman Reigns are two of the top names in WWE right now, and it sounds like the company has some marquee matches lined up for them.

Dave Meltzer recently discussed plans for WrestleMania 41 on Wrestling Observer Radio, and he noted that there has been talk of CM Punk facing off against Roman Reigns on the Grandest Stage of Them All.

“The idea of Punk and Roman Reigns is certainly a thing that’s been going around in the past week. And I think there’s something to it.”

It’s also been rumored that WWE has plans for John Cena to chase his 17th World Championship during WrestleMania season. Meltzer confirmed that the idea has been a major talking point and as of right now Cena is scheduled to face Cody Rhodes.

“It absolutely was a major thing, [people] talking about WrestleMania being John Cena going for the 17th Championship and breaking Ric Flair’s record. So it could’ve been GUNTHER, it could’ve been whoever beats GUNTHER, it could’ve been Cody. Probably wasn’t going to be Cody if Rock was doing the show. Right now, it is Cody.”

Of course cards are always subject to change, and it was noted that WWE could alter plans if The Rock were to decide he wants be a part of WrestleMania. If Rock wanted to work with Cody, or Roman, the belief is that WWE would likely make adjustments to give him what he wants.
