Billy Gunn has been in the professional wrestling business for a long time, and in January of 2019 it was revealed that the former Intercontinental Champion had signed with All Elite Wrestling.
In 2022, Billy Gunn started managing The Acclaimed and they quickly became one of the most popular acts in the company after the alliance was formed. However, it seems that Billy Gunn and Anthony Bowens might have gotten off on the wrong foot as Bowens noted during an appearance on Everything Is Pro Wrestling that he used to be scared of the Hall of Famer.
“I used to be scared of Billy. When I had my tryout at the Performance Center in 2015, I was doing a drill slightly incorrectly. It’s a drill where you lay on your back and get up and square off with your opponent.
I went down on my back, I went up, and I saw an angry tomato red man looking at me from up above. That sight haunted me for years. I was scared to say hello to him when I first got to AEW. Now, it’s kind of funny that it went from him giving me nightmares to being my dad.”
The Acclaimed will be in action at Full Gear this weekend as they’re set to face off against Private Party, The Outrunners and House of Black in a four way match for the AEW World Tag Team Titles.
Stay tuned for updates.
