According to The Orlando Sentinel, one half of the current AEW World Tag Team Champions has been arrested. The report notes that Cash Wheeler was arrested by the Orlando Police Department on Friday morning for aggravated assault with a firearm. He was booked in Circuit Court.
Following the arrest All Elite Wrestling issued the following statement to The Orlando Sentinel:
“AEW has been made aware of the charge, and we are closely monitoring the situation. He is fully cooperating with local authorities.”
PWInsider is reporting that a warrant was issued for Wheeler’s arrest on 7/28 and he’s slated for a hearing today at 1 PM. Wheeler filed a plea of not guilty for charges of aggravated assault with a firearm through his lawyer on 8/3.
Details regarding the incident that led to the arrest are unknown, but it seems that it was something that happened several weeks ago. In the state of Florida aggravated assault with a firearm is a third degree felony.
