CM Punk hasn’t appeared on AEW programming since the All Out pay-per-view last year, but he’s set to make his return on Saturday, June 17 for the debut episode of Collision. Punk is always a controversial figure in the world of professional wrestling and Wade Keller recently claimed that there’s something that will be coming out involving CM Punk that won’t do anything to dull down the controversy.
“I am under the impression between now and Saturday, there’s going to be something that comes out that media wise that is not gonna help matters, probably,” Keller said. “I don’t mean to be cryptic but I haven’t heard the details or seen enough to say much but yea, I just don’t know. I just think it’s gonna be one of those weeks, I’ll put it that way…From what I’m hearing behind the scenes in AEW, it’s just gonna be one of those weeks.”
Fightful Select is reporting that an ESPN interview with CM Punk will be dropping soon which features Punk talking about a number of topics including The Elite. There was talk about the interview among people on the roster during the June 14 Dynamite tapings, and some of it didn’t go over well based on second hand reports of what CM Punk said that could be seen as “his version of what is true.”
The interview was set up and monitored by AEW, but it’s being said that Punk spoke in a way that would blur the lines and create a buzz for upcoming shows. The questions were answered in a way that would make the audience wonder if CM Punk was shooting or angling for a story.
When Adam Page was brought up CM Punk made it very clear that he didn’t like Page. During the interview CM Punk said that there were spots during their match at Double or Nothing where he felt that Page was shooting on him by chopping him in the face.
The interview was conducted last week and it’s being said that CM Punk knew it could come off as polarizing. It’s not known at this point in time what will make it in the final interview, but Punk was sent a series of documents that protected AEW.
