Conor McGregor is one of the most notorious names in MMA, and it’s been rumored for months now that WWE officials want McGregor to make an appearance at WrestleMania 33. According to The Sun, WWE recently made an offer to Conor McGregor, but McGregor turned it down.
“WWE has made no secret of its desire to do something with Conor McGregor and there were talks between the two parties about this year,” a source told The Sun. “Because he’s taking time off from the UFC, there was a talk about doing something at this year’s Wrestlemania in April, but it wasn’t to be despite a hefty offer.”
Triple H was in attendance for UFC 205 last year when Conor McGregor became a double champion. Following the pay-per-view Triple H was asked about Conor McGregor possibly working with WWE, and Triple H confirmed he was interested in bringing Conor in.
“He could come over, he’s got it all, man – he’s got the personality, the skills, the talk. He’s an entertainer, for sure. What does he walk around at? 180lbs? I have smaller guys now in the WWE. We have 200lb guys who are stars. You don’t need to be 300lbs any more.”
McGregor became a hot topic in the wrestling community last year when he took several shots at professional wrestling stars in interviews.
