It looks like Cody Rhodes has decided to part ways with WWE. Cody signed into his personal Twitter account earlier today to let the world know that he has requested his release from WWE. He commented on his 10 year career with the company and said that he will be speaking more about his situation shortly.
Cody Rhodes has spent the past few years working as Stardust on WWE programming. It appeared that he was teasing the return of Cody Rhodes on social media as of late but obviously that’s not the case.
Over the course of his ten year career with WWE Cody was able to win championship gold several times. He’s a three time Intercontinental Champion and he held the WWE Tag Team Championship twice with his brother Goldust and once with Drew McIntyre. Cody also held the now decomissioned World Tag Team Championship twice with Ted DiBiase Jr. and once with Hardcore Holly.
Last summer Stardust ended up in a high profile feud with Stephen Amell who plays Oliver Queen on the hit show “Arrow.” The two went on to face off in a tag team match at SummerSlam in 2015 and Amell along with his teammate Neville managed to defeat the team of Stardust and King Barrett.
Stardust competed in the multi-man Intercontinental Championship ladder match at WrestleMania 32 but he failed to win the gold. From there he transitioned into a feud with Apollo Crews, but that feud appears to be over.
