When Cody Rhodes parted ways with WWE in 2016 his departure sent shockwaves throughout the wrestling world. In the years that followed Cody managed to find his own path that eventually led to him become one of the key figures in All Elite Wrestling.
Prior to his WWE departure Cody was working as Stardust. Cody has explained why he wasn’t thrilled about portraying Stardust, and during a recent interview with Sports Illustrated he shared some interesting details about a conversation he had with Triple H before his departure.
“I remember Triple H, who is a big part of my career, telling me, ‘Everybody has a role to play.’ I told him, ‘I want to play a better role.’ I understood what he said, but that wasn’t the role I wanted to play. So I went away and showed that it was possible.”
Cody took a chance on himself and it certainly paid off as he returned to WWE at WrestleMania 38 and he’s currently one of the top stars in the company. It was announced on Raw this week that Rhodes will face Seth Rollins at Hell in a Cell next month. Stay tuned for more updates as they become available.
