Earlier this year Cody Rhodes confirmed that he had parted ways with All Elite Wrestling, and immediately people started talking about a possible WWE return for the former TNT Champion.
The rumors have been making the rounds for weeks now that Cody could be facing Seth Rollins at WrestleMania 38, and Vince McMahon threw some fuel on the first when he confirmed that Seth would be competing against an opponent of his choosing on the Grandest Stage of Them All.
When Seth Rollins made his entrance he begged his opponent to reveal himself, and the lights went down. When they came back on Cody Rhodes came up through the stage, and he was introduced as The American Nightmare to a massive ovation from the crowd.
Cody Rhodes was presented exactly the same as he was in AEW with the same entrance music, and he got a huge pop from the fans in attendance from WrestleMania.
Cody hit Seth Rollins with the Cross Rhodes twice, then he stopped and hit him with the bionic elbow. Cody paused then hit Rollins with the Cross Rhodes one more time to pick up the win.
The rumors are true. Cody has returned to WWE. This story is developing. Stay tuned for updates.
