It’s been years since Cody Rhodes has been able to call himself a WWE Superstar, and right now he’s working in AEW as both a talent and an Executive Vice President.
Since parting ways with WWE Cody has tried to trademark some WCW related names, and other IP that was created by his father Dusty Rhodes.
WWE recently announced that the Great American Bash will be used for an upcoming NXT event, and a fan noted on Twitter that they think WWE should cut Cody’s mother a check for using the name.
Cody noted that he doesn’t own the IP, and he’s not holding a grudge against WWE for using it when he posted the following:
“😂 it’s all good friend. I appreciate the sentiment. Although the event means a lot to my Sister and i, I don’t own the IP and ain’t holding much of a grudge on it.
My focus has to be on our show and talent. Making it fun, making it violent, making it memorable.”
