It’s been years since Cody Rhodes has been a WWE Superstar, as he’s currently a top talent and Executive Vice President in All Elite Wrestling.
Cody Rhodes attempted to trademark the name “Cody Rhodes” back in April, but the USPTO issued an initial refusal due to the trademark being too similar to WWE’s trademark.
Originally WWE’s registration for the trademark was set to expire on April 13, but it was renewed on May 15, and COVID-19 was the reason given for the delay.
The trademark issue has been a hot topic on social media, and Cody weighed in and said that there’s no grudge when he posted the following:
“It’s not as sultry/scandalous as reported. It’s just business. They’ve seen the same data we have, and they know they can make big money off the brand(even though it’s not in their house). Trying to license me is flattering, but it doesn’t stop this train from moving. No grudge.”
