The first ever two night WWE SummerSlam was a massive show full of big moments that will be talked about for years to come. The biggest moment from the show was arguably Brock Lesnar’s return which received a huge response on social media and beyond.
Today it was announced that WWE premium live events will be moving to ESPN’s new streaming service in 2026, and a number of stars from the company spoke to ESPN today about all things WWE.
Cody Rhodes appeared on ESPN SportsCenter to discuss the new deal, and he also took a moment to share his take on why Brock Lesnar fits with the direction WWE is heading in.
“Brock, in terms of athleticism, one of the things — we held tryouts going into SummerSlam weekend and you have so many NIL athletes and so many people coming from the world of sport. Tiffany Stratton is a great example, someone on our roster now who came from the world of sport and has grown into becoming a professional wrestler and part of sports entertainment. Brock is somebody who is a NCAA Champion, UFC Heavyweight Champion, he fits right in with the direction that WWE is going in terms of sport meeting entertainment.”
The American Nightmare also said that the deal with ESPN was kept secret from him, but Triple H and Nick Khan told him to be ready because something would be happening on Wednesday.
