Cody Rhodes In Talks For Major Role In Street Fighter Movie

Over the years there have been a number of wrestlers who have successfully made the jump to Hollywood. Recently there’s been a lot of talk about the upcoming Street Fighter movie within the wrestling world as it’s been reported that Roman Reigns has landed the role of Akuma. Now it looks like The American Nightmare could be joining The Tribal Chief in the film.

Nexus Point News is now reporting that Cody Rhodes is in talks for a role in the Street Fighter movie. According to the report Cody is in talks for the role of Guile who first appeared in Street Fighter II in 1991. Guile is a colonel in the United States Air Force and the role was originally played by Jean-Claude Van Damme in the 1994 Street Fighter film.

While Cody Rhodes has made a name for himself in the wrestling world he has also landed some notable roles in the acting world. Rhodes has appeared in shows such as Warehouse 13 and Arrow, and he’s also set to appear in The Naked Gun film which will be released this summer.

Street Fighter is set to be directed by Kitao Skurai and Noah Centineo and Andrew Koji are attached as Ken and Ryu respectively. Jason Mamoa will be playing Blanca with 50 Cent playing Balrog. Other names confirmed for the film include Cllina Liang as Chun-Li and David Dastmalchian as M. Bison.

Recently it was reported that production for the film is expected to kick off in Australia in August. Stay tuned for updates.
