Pat McAfee is back in the mix as McAfee returned to WWE programming last week on SmackDown when he attacked Cody Rhodes. He then went on to cut a promo as he told Cody that the business he’s been leading is terrible, and Randy Orton is going to save it.
Randy Orton is set to challenge Cody Rhodes for the Undisputed WWE Championship in the night 1 main event of WrestleMania 42, and Pat McAfee will be in his corner. Ahead of the show the Wrestling Observer Newsletter is reporting that Jelly Roll is expected to be in Cody Rhodes’ corner for the match.
Jelly Roll made his in-ring debut with WWE last year at SummerSlam when he teamed with Randy Orton to face Drew McIntyre and Logan Paul at SummerSlam. A few weeks ago on SmackDown, Randy Orton turned on Jelly Roll when he hit his former partner with the RKO.
It appears that this is all leading to big team match as the Observer is also reporting that current plans call for Jelly Roll and Cody Rhodes to face Randy Orton and Pat McAfee at the Backlash premium live event in May.
“McAfee will team with Orton against Rhodes & Jelly Roll coming out of WrestleMania and be a key match at the Backlash PPV on 5/9, at least as of plans that were confirmed to us by multiple people and were still in play at press time.”
