Ahead of the WWE Crown Jewel Championship premium live event this year Triple H unveiled two new Crown Jewel Championship belts. Liv Morgan defeated Nia Jax earlier in the night to become the first ever WWE Women’s Crown Jewel Champion, and Cody Rhodes faced off against Gunther in the main event with the other Crown Jewel Championship on the line.
Gunther entered first followed by Cody Rhodes who entered to a big reaction from the fans in attendance. The Ring General had the momentum on his side for most of the match as he dominated The American Nightmare. Throughout the match Gunther continuously targeted Cody’s left arm.
Eventually Cody made a comeback and connected with the Cody Cutter for a two count. Cody went for Cross Rhodes, but Gunther countered and locked in a sleeper hold. Cody made another comeback and connected with Cross Rhodes. He was too worn out to pin Gunther. They both got up and Gunther connected with a powerbomb for a two count.
Cody fought back and landed another Cross Rhodes for a two count. Rhodes went for a super Cody Cutter off the top rope, but when he landed Gunther tried to put him in the sleeper again. Cody countered it when he rolled his body back and quickly pinned Gunther’s shoulders to the mat to win the match and become the Crown Jewel Champion.
After the match Cody Rhodes and Gunther shook hands. Triple H then entered the ring and presented the WWE Crown Jewel Championship to Cody then shook his hand. Cody held up both belts and celebrated with Triple H and Liv Morgan as the show went off the air.
