CM Punk’s Trial Date With WWE Is Coming Up Soon

CM Punk and WWE haven’t seen eye to eye in a very long time. To put it into perspective there have been 10 entries in the Marvel Cinematic Universe since Punk left WWE and it will be 11 if you’re reading this after Avengers: Infinity War comes out.

WWE and their doctor Chris Amann filed a defamation lawsuit against CM Punk and Colt Cabana following a two-part Art Of Wrestling podcast where Punk let it all hang out about why he left WWE. During the interview, Punk revealed how he had a sore on his back but WWE’s doctor just kept giving him a Z-Pak and making him wrestle anyway.

But then Punk discussed how they found out that what he actually had on his back was a full-blown staph infection as he detailed the excruciating experience he had after going to his wife AJ Lee’s doctor instead of WWE’s physician.

“My lovely wife convinced me to go to her doctor in Tampa,” Punk said during the infamous podcast. “I went to her doctor in Tampa. I walked in, I’ve never met this guy, he looked kind of like Patrick Bateman, it was creepy. If Patrick Bateman had white hair, it was him. His last name was Bateman too, it’s very strange. Never seen him before, he’s got no idea who I am. He’s like ‘okay, so what’s the problem?’ And I f-cking yanked my shorts down and I show him this f-cking thing on my back.”

“He looks right at it, he doesn’t touch it, he just looks at it, cocks his head sideways and he goes ‘that’s a full-blown staph infection.'”

“And I looked at him and I laughed. And you were there when the doctor told me I had a fractured skull. Same laugh. I just went ‘ha ha ha ha’ like ‘yeah, of course, it is. I have a staph infection because of course, I do. Why not?'”

“And I was like ‘all right, what are you going to do?’ And he was like ‘uh, I mean, that’s like MRSA. I can tell right now, the thing’s like purple and green.’ He was like ‘I can cut it out and you need to go to a hospital and get like an antibiotic IV drip.’ And I was like ‘well, let’s say we didn’t have time for that.’ He just loaded me up with antibiotics. He cut the thing, he squeezed it, shit shot onto the ceiling. I’ve had tattoos in some of the most painful places, I’ve fractured my skull, Ryback has broken my ribs on a kick on purpose, I’ve wrestled three weeks after knee surgery; this was the most painful experience of my entire life.”

Ringside News reports that CM Punk’s trial date is set for May 21st, 2018. The latest update on the trial according to court documents was on April 5th where Dr. Chris Amann’s attorney’s filed a deposition. It looks like they’re getting ready to take this case to court so any notice to dismiss has apparently proved unsuccessful at this point.

But it would be hard to argue that it would be nice if both sides could come to an agreement. Especially if that included the Second City Savior returning to WWE, even though that might seem unlikely at this juncture. It would also be amazing if this case was dropped for Colt Cabana’s benefit because although he makes a fine living on the indie wrestling circuit, he might not have the funds properly fight this kind of expensive case.

Either way, it looks like we’ll just have to wait and see. But it looks like we’ll have our answer on the next phase of this situation on May 21st.
