Gunther won the WWE World Heavyweight Championship at SummerSlam, and since then he’s been a fighting champion. The Ring General defended the WWE World Heavyweight Championship against Finn Balor and Damian Priest at Saturday Night’s Main Event this weekend in an action packed triple threat match. When it was all said and done Gunther managed to retain his title then walk out with the gold.

Ahead of the show Dr. Chris Featherstone reported that a cage match for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship was brewing for Gunther. He later went on to clarify that Gunther is set to work with CM Punk at the upcoming WWE live event in Chicago later this month.

It’s possible that the CM Punk vs. Gunther match planned for the live event could be a tease for an upcoming feud, but that has not been confirmed.

CM Punk recently returned to the ring when he helped The Original Bloodline defeat The New Bloodline at Survivor Series. Following the show Punk appeared on Raw and made it clear that he’s focused on WrestleMania. However, he was interrupted by Seth Rollins.

At the moment CM Punk and Seth Rollins are on a collision course, and you can get more details on upcoming plans for their feud here.
