Fans haven’t seen CM Punk appear on AEW programming since the All Out pay-per-view last year and recently it’s been rumored that he could be returning to All Elite Wrestling.
The Wrestling Observer Newsletter reports that as of right now CM Punk is scheduled for the June 17 show at the United Center in Chicago. The show is set to take place on a Saturday which means it’s most likely the debut of the rumored AEW Collision show.
As of this writing everything is not yet finalized, but the building is booked and the expectation is that everything will be announced once the CM Punk deal and TV deal are finalized. It’s being said that since the building is in place the TV deal is either done or the company is certain that it will be.
The decision to bring CM Punk back was made weeks ago even though there was a snag that came up two weeks ago that was worked out. With the show taking place from the United Center the expectation is that it will have a theme name that hasn’t been decided yet.
Multiple people have said that Warner Bros. Discovery wanted CM Punk back, although others have said different. Punk was reportedly extremely important to this deal. One person outside the company has seen correspondence that Warner Bros. Discovery wanted him back and some things that have happened behind the scenes indicate that he was very significant in everything.
