CM Punk recently returned to the ring when he faced off against Jon Moxley in a title unification match on Dynamite, but things didn’t go Punk’s way as he was defeated by Moxley in a match that only lasted a little over three minutes.
On the most recent episode of Dynamite, Jon Moxley left an open contract in the ring for a title match at All Out and Ace Steel convinced Punk to sign it. Punk and Moxley faced off in a rematch on Sunday night and both men received a big reaction from the Chicago crowd as they made their way to the ring.
CM Punk hit Mox with the GTS early on, but he kicked out. They proceeded to brawl through the crowd for a while before returning to the ringside area where Punk threw Moxley into the stairs. The Chicago crowd responded with dueling chants of “CM Punk” and “let’s go Moxley!”
Moxley pushed Punk into the ring post and the crowd booed as Punk was busted open. After punching him in the head a few times Moxley licked Punk’s blood off his own arm then slammed Punk’s face into the steel ring steps. Moxley then focused on attacking Punk’s surgically repaired foot and dominated Punk for a good portion of the match as he applied a series of submission holds.
Later in the match Punk hit the GTS a second time then fell to his knees. Moxley bounced off the ropes then fell onto Punk’s shoulders. CM Punk used all the strength he had left to lift Moxley up and hit the GTS a third time for the win.
After the match the lights went out and a voicemail played which featured Tony Khan making an offer to MJF to appear at All Out. It was then revealed that MJF was The Joker who earned the AEW World Title shot in the Casino Ladder Match earlier in the night.
MJF’s music then hit and he received a big pop from the Chicago crowd as he made his way out into the arena to stare down CM Punk. MJF signaled for his music to be cut as Punk taunted him and motioned for him to come down to the ring. The Chicago fans chanted “MJF!” He pointed to his waist and indicated that he’s coming for Punk’s belt as the show went off the air.
