It seems like fans have been waiting forever for CM Punk to debut in the UFC and it looks like they’re going to have to wait a little while longer.
Ariel Helwani of MMAFighting.com is reporting that CM Punk is set to undergo back surgery to repair a herniated disk. Punk noted that his back has been bugging him and that it’s a lingering issue from his wrestling days. He said it got really bad recently.
“It got bad enough to the point where I couldn’t do anything the week before I went to train with the New Jersey Devils last month. One day I could manage, the next day I couldn’t. I’ve been in agony for almost a month. Chiropractor, acupuncture, massage, cryotherapy … nothing worked.” Punk said.
It’s estimated that Punk’s post-surgery recovery could take four to six weeks so it’s not out of the question for him to still fight in 2016. We’ll just have to sit back and see how to recovery goes and Mickey Gall is just going to have to wait a little while longer to see if he can make good on his claim to knock out CM Punk.
