CM Punk Talks Making The Transition From Wrestling To MMA, Wanting To Fight At UFC 200

CM Punk recently spoke to The Associated Press about his impending UFC debut and more. During the interview Punk talked a little bit about what it’s been like to make the transition from wrestling to MMA.

“This is new to me,” Punk said. “It’s not the same old boring (stuff) that I’ve been doing for God knows how long. People are talking about it. Some people are upset, some people love it, some people think it’s inspirational. I’m pretty sure everybody has an opinion on it.”

Dana White recently announced that Punk will likely fight Mickey Gall at UFC 199 in June. But Punk admitted during the interview that if he had his way he would rather make his debut at UFC 200 in July.

“There’s part of me that cares because UFC 200 is going to be a big deal,” Punk said. “I’ve spoken to Dana about it, trying to figure out what’s best for both parties. It’s just a smarter business decision.”

Of course Mickey Gall recently mentioned in an interview that he believes he will knock CM Punk out in the first round if the two do meet in the octagon. Punk says he wouldn’t have it any other way.

“Of course he says he’s going to finish me in the first round. I would have it no other way,” Punk said. “He’s coming to finish me and I’m coming to finish him.”
