Over the last few months fans have seen some surprising names released from WWE, and yesterday the company announced that Braun Strowman, Aleister Black, Lana, Buddy Murphy, Satana Garrett and Ruby Riott had all been let go.
The releases were reportedly due to budget cuts, but one way or another there’s no denying that the news has sent the wrestling world into a frenzy on social media.
John Squires of Bloody Disgusting recently reacted to the news when he posted a tweet saying that WWE has a wealth of talent that they don’t know what to do with. Former WWE Champion CM Punk then weighed in on the situation when he referred to Vince McMahon saying that the creative team writes for an audience of one.
“It’s like a movie with a blockbuster budget and cast, but if it’s written by creatively bankrupt nincompoops specifically for an audience of one, in a language nobody understands anymore, it’s…..trash. But people watch it because they like movies. 🤷🏼♀️”
