A disappointed CM Punk spoke at the UFC 203 post-fight press conference, and Punk was asked if he intends to continue fighting at the UFC level, or if he would consider fighting at a lower level.
“My initial venture into this was going to be at the lowest level. This opportunity just got presented to myself, and I would have been a fool to say no. I don’t know what happens from here on out. What if I get cut? I don’t know. I think that’s a possibility. Do I want that to happen? No. But who’s to say where I go from here? I definitely want to keep going. I’m the type of guy, I just fell off the bike, I’m not just gonna shelve it and leave it in the middle of the street, I’m gonna get back on it and ride it.”
When asked when he plans on fighting again, Punk said that it was always his plan to take time some time away after the fight.
“Hard question to answer, obviously it’s the same bet I just lost. I would love to jump back in there as quickly as I can and erase that, but I gotta go back to the drawing board. I sorta look like the Elephant Man right now. The plan was always to take some time. My wife’s put up with a lot through this process, and instead of her cooking meals for me, I gotta cook some stuff for her.”
He was also asked about what his wife said to him after the fight and Punk got emotional and paused for a second. He then told the press that she just told him that she was proud of him.
CM Punk also said that his coaches told him they were proud of him, and he told the press that he feels like he let them down.
