CM Punk and Steve Austin are well known to wrestling fans all over the world, and fans have even seen them come face to face on WWE programming in the past.
But Austin and Punk crossed paths long before Punk made it to the top of the wrestling world in WWE. Punk recently shared a throwback photo of himself with Steve Austin, but noted that he wasn’t sure when it was taken when he posted the following:
“Throw back to when @steveaustinbsr first got a pic with me. 95 or 96.”
The photo was reposted on Twitter and Steve Austin chimed in and told Punk that the photo was taken in Chicago in 1996.
It was ‘96 Punk

It’s no big secret that CM Punk wanted to face Steve Austin at one point in time, but Austin is retired from in-ring competition and has given no indication that he’ll be returning for another match.
CM Punk hasn’t wrestled a match inside a WWE ring since 2014, and at this point it remains to be seen if an in-ring return in WWE will ever happen for the former World Heavyweight Champion.
