The road to WrestleMania continued on Saturday with Elimination Chamber which aired live from Perth, Australia. Originally CM Punk was being advertised for the event, but CM Punk is currently off TV due to an injury he suffered during the 30 man Royal Rumble match in January.
It’s been reported that CM Punk was originally set to face Seth Rollins in a match at WrestleMania 40 which would have presumably been set up at Elimination Chamber. However, those plans obviously fell through when Punk suffered his injury.
On Saturday, CM Punk took to Instagram to post a message for the fans in his story which reads as follows:
“Had a rough day mentally today. My heart and spirit are in Perth. Just a hard day staying positive and nobody wishes I was there performing for the fans more than me. Enjoy the show, appreciate you all.”
At this point it’s not clear when CM Punk will return, but he estimated during a recent interview that he could be back in six to eight months. Stay tuned for updates.
