CM Punk has been wrestling for decades now, but he’s still going strong and is the current WWE World Heavyweight Champion. Even though he’s one of WWE’s top stars it seems that Punk will have to start thinking about retirement sooner than later as he’s 47 years old.
While talking to Cinema Blend about his future, CM Punk estimated that he will probably be looking to retire in a few years when he reaches the age of 50.
“When I was 15, if you asked me if I’d be wrestling when I was 40, I would tell you ‘No, that’s crazy. 40 is so old.’ I’m 47, and I don’t feel old yet. Terry Funk wrestled for a long time, Ric Flair wrestled for a long time. I mean, there’s luchadors that are like in their 70s that are still doing it. Do I want to be doing that? Probably not. I would estimate probably the big 50 is when I should maybe gracefully bow out. Knock on wood, if nothing else horrible happens.”
CM Punk kicked off the new year in a big way as he successfully defended his WWE World Heavyweight Championship against Bron Breakker on the January 5th episode of Raw. It was confirmed recently that he will be putting the title on the line next week when he defends against Finn Balor on Raw in Ireland.
Stay tuned for updates.
