This week’s episode of Monday Night Raw kicked off in a big way as CM Punk cut a fiery promo at the top of the show. The WWE World Heavyweight Champion took shots at Roman Reigns, The Rock, TKO, Pat McAfee, WWE ticket prices, and he also referenced Vince McMahon when he mentioned a “weird old man.” For better or worse the promo got the wrestling world talking as Punk reminded everyone that he is a force to be reckoned with on the microphone.
PWInsider is reporting that they’ve been told Punk’s promo on Raw was similar to the pipebomb promo in the sense that the company had a plan for what they expected CM Punk to say, then he went out into the arena and cut a different promo. PWInsider also noted that they have not heard of any fallout from the promo, but much of what Punk said mirrors backstage frustration among talent in recent weeks.
The report also noted that several talents have expressed their frustration with the fact that WWE ticket prices are so high. While there are many tickets left for WrestleMania, only two comp tickets are being granted to WWE talent on the night they perform at the big show. Anything additional the talent would have to purchase themselves.
WWE ticket prices have been a very hot topic within the wrestling community over the last few years as it’s no big secret that some fans feel they are being priced out. Following CM Punk’s promo on Monday Night Raw it’s been reported that WWE will be looking to lower ticket prices through the summer.
