CM Punk left WWE in 2014, and he has since made the transition to MMA fighter. Unfortunately Punk’s first UFC fight didn’t go all that well, as he was defeated by Mickey Gall, and a second fight for CM Punk has yet to be announced.
MMA isn’t CM Punk’s only passion, as he’s written comic books for Marvel, and it looks like he’s also been trying to do more acting work.
PWInsider reports that CM Punk screen tested for a lead role in the Starz professional wrestling drama titled “Heels” which was at one point being fast tracked by the network with plans for an eight episode season.
The one hour drama was set to focus on two brothers, one a babyface, and one a heel dealing with struggles behind their scenes after their father, the promoter of a Georgia based wrestling promotion, passed away.
According to the report, CM Punk screen tested for the heel brother role of Jack Spade and he impressed casting directors.
However, it’s also being reported that after several months of casting, “Heels” has been put on hold by the producers of the show. At one point the producers reportedly hoped to cast Henry Cavill and Jack Reynor as the leads.
The project was announced last February, and has reportedly been put on hold several times since.
If the project ends up moving forward once again, it’s possible that CM Punk could be brought back into the mix in the future depending on what happens with the show.
