After CM Punk left WWE, he stayed quiet for a few months, but eventually he broke his silence and talked about the events that led to his departure during an episode of Colt Cabana’s Art of Wrestling podcast.
However, during the podcast, Punk said some things about Dr. Chris Amann who works for WWE, and Amann took exception to his comments. Amann filed a lawsuit and is seeking $1 million in damages due to Punk’s comments, but earlier this week it was reported that the trial has been delayed.
Now the Wrestling Observer Newsletter is reporting that the plaintiff’s side pushed for the delay, and Punk’s side is pushing for the case to go to trial.
A person close to the situation claims that, “the defense (Punk’s side) has worked long and hard on building a case for trial. Anything is possible but the defense is ready and prepared for a jury trial.”
A win for CM Punk would be a moral victory, and if Amann’s side loses they will have to pay the legal fees, but by pushing for a trial Punk also puts himself at risk depending on what the verdict turns out to be.
As noted, CM Punk is scheduled to face Mike Jackson at UFC 225 in Chicago on June 9th.
