CM Punk hasn’t appeared on AEW programming since the All Out pay-per-view in September of last year, but the former AEW World Champion is expected to return soon to be the star of AEW’s yet to be announced Saturday show titled Collision.
Fightful Select is reporting that there are plans for a big marquee match for the AEW Collision show, and that CM Punk has pushed for a huge match early on in his return. A program with Chris Jericho has been discussed, but it’s being said that Punk had pushed for another return opponent right out of the gate. There’s currently no word on exactly Punk is pushing to work with.
When talk of AEW Collision first started making the rounds it was rumored that the company would be using the show to split the roster. It’s not known if this is meant to keep CM Punk and The Elite apart, but the plan is for both sets of talent to appear on Dynamite and Collision occasionally when called for.
It isn’t expected that AEW will have a hard brand split when the new show launches, but there are plans to have a fresh approach to the roster with some significant names. Several AEW talent who have been sidelined believe they’ll be on the show although they haven’t been told outright that it’s happening.
