Last week on AEW Collision, CM Punk teamed up with FTR to face House of Black in the main event, but it was what happened after the show that really got people talking. When Collision went off the air CM Punk cut a promo where he called Adam Page a “peg-warmer” while claiming that no one wants to buy his merchandise.
The infamous promo was discussed on Wrestling Observer Radio, and Bryan Alvarez confirmed that CM Punk did apologize to Adam Page for what he said on Saturday night.
“There are a few things that we can confirm and they’ve been confirmed from both sides and one of them is a claim from the CM Punk side that he apologised to Hangman Page. There were other things that were claimed as well but what I can say is that he did in fact send a text to Hangman Page apologising for the promo on Saturday. So that is from both sides, that did happen, he did apologise to him via text message.”
Dave Meltzer went on to say that CM Punk’s promo was supposed to be comedic when he added, “The story that I got defending him was that it was an attempt to do a comedy line that backfired and he realised the minute he did it that it backfired. I watched the thing and it certainly seemed like he got mad at a sign in the crowd and that was his reaction to it.”
It’s unclear at this point in time if CM Punk and The Elite will ever work out their issues as it’s been reported that Punk is open to working with the group, but the interest doesn’t seem to be mutual.
