A few months ago CM Punk returned to the world of professional wrestling when he joined WWE Backstage as an analyst.
In the months leading up to Punk’s debut on WWE Backstage there were a lot of rumors making the rounds about a possible return to the ring, and naturally the subject of Punk possibly signing with AEW was talked about.
During a recent appearance on Kevin in the Mornings with Allie & Jensen the former WWE Champion was asked if he could wrestle in AEW while hosting Backstage, and he indicated that FOX wouldn’t like that very much.
“I think if I was wrestling for AEW, I’m sure Fox would be like, ‘well, it was fun while it lasted.’ I guess technically [I could]. Technically I could do that yeah, but I’m sure Fox would be like, ‘well?'”
Punk also made it clear that he’s employed by FOX, not WWE, and that he can still do commentary on MMA shows.
However, it doesn’t sound like he’ll be stepping into a AEW ring any time soon.
