WWE Money in the Bank is set to take place from Las Vegas in July and the event was originally set to take place from Allegiant Stadium. However, WWE announced yesterday that the event will now be taking place from the smaller MGM Grand Arena.
Money in the Bank has now gone from a 65,000 seat venue to a 17,000 seat venue and fans on social media have been making the comparison to WrestleMania VII which was also moved from a stadium to an arena. When the event was moved WWE cited bomb threats as the reason for the change.
CM Punk seemingly referenced the change when he posted the WrestleMania VII poster in his Instagram story along with a caption saying, “Another bomb threat smh.”
It was later reported that WWE moved WrestleMania VII due to poor ticket sales as only 16,000 tickets were sold for the LA Memorial Coliseum. Bruce Prichard later confirmed on Something To Wrestle with Bruce Prichard, that the event was moved due to poor ticket sales, but also noted that security concerns played a factor.
